AIA|LA 1.5°C Symposium on Climate Change

At the AIA Los Angeles 1.5° Celsius Symposium on Climate Change, our studio members joined conversations on sustainability, resilience and design innovation.

As Earth Week ends, we’re reminded that designers and architects have the power to envision a climate-just future.

Since the first Earth Day, our industry has made tremendous strides through building codes, new technology, and a deeper understanding of what environmental justice means for people. Still, there's tremendous potential ahead. We walked away more determined to create sustainable environments that serve people with health, equity, and joy.

We look forward to integrating lessons from the day into our work, as we continue to find new ways to fight climate change. As studio member Ismar Enriquez, AIA, LFA, LEED AP said, “Design is leadership, and it can give us a better future. Lead with purpose!”

We thank the AIA Los Angeles Committee on the Environment, including Vice-Chair Casey Castor, our Director of Sustainability, for organizing this impactful conference.
