New Codes and Building Policies

New codes and building policies are scaling action on embodied carbon, but how do they show up in real projects?

Our Sustainability Director, Casey Castor, will share insights at the Getting to Zero Forum on April 24 from our work modernizing Inglewood High School.

The project puts these evolving requirements into practice through thoughtful planning, performance-based compliance, and smarter material decisions. Using tools like Tally and EC3, we’ve been evaluating the carbon impact of steel and other materials to make choices that support climate goals and create a healthier future for students.

Casey will be speaking in the From Policy to Practice: Scaling Action on Embodied Carbon workshop from 9:00–10:30am, alongside Amie Lewis from New Buildings Institute, Rachelle Habchi from the Carbon Leadership Forum, and Peter Roquemore from the City of Santa Monica Office of Sustainability.
