We were proud to join residents, community members, and project partners in Watts for the ribbon cutting of Mariposa, Phase S5 of the Jordan Downs redevelopment.
Designed by Practice, Mariposa brings 75 new affordable homes to the Jordan Downs community. The project builds on Phase S4, Nueva Vida, also designed by our team, as part of HACLA's ongoing effort to transform Jordan Downs into a more connected and vibrant neighborhood.
Centered around a Children's Park, Mariposa brings together housing and shared community spaces that encourage connection and a sense of belonging. Front stoops, semi-private yards, community rooms, and resident amenities create opportunities for neighbors to gather, interact, and make these spaces their own.
We were honored to celebrate this milestone alongside Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Assemblymember Mike Gipson, Councilmember Tim McOsker, and representatives from HACLA, The Michaels Organization, HUD, and the California Housing and Homelessness Agency, including Lourdes Castro Ramirez, Raoul Amescua, John King, Jenny Scanlin, John Mimms, William Spencer, and Vishesh Anand.
A special thank you to our project partners Tina Chee Landscape, Breen Engineering, David Choi and Associates, View Design Studio, The Michaels Organization, Walton Construction, and East Side of the River for their collaboration in bringing this phase to life.
