A Noise Within is a nationally recognized classical repertory theatre company housed in a purpose-built facility in Pasadena. Practice has served as the organization’s architect across a multi-year engagement that began with a comprehensive expansion and renovation study in 2021 and continues through ongoing concept design. The work reflects Practice’s ability to partner with mission-driven organizations over time, advancing design vision in step with evolving programmatic needs and fundraising priorities.
The initial phase included a full assessment of the existing facility, with programming for expanded performance spaces, audience amenities, backstage and production areas, and administrative functions. Subsequent efforts have explored a range of improvements, including a black box theater feasibility study, enhanced performer and support spaces, and community-informed planning initiatives. Most recently, the work has focused on an adaptive reuse concept that transforms an existing third-floor office suite into a flexible rehearsal and performance venue.
