At Arroyo High School we transformed an original anonymous finger-plan school into a collegiate-quality campus. The diverse renovation and addition plan included the campus library, a new classroom complex, renovated administrative offices, and a re-design of the covered circulation and open spaces throughout the campus.
We extended the mid-century brick origins of the original campus to create a social, open-aired, and light-hearted spirit. The utilitarian brick architecture is crisply re-stated in classic college form, environmentally supporting a school whose performance has far out-stripped its original architecture. The new building form, in concert with re-shaped campus circulation routes and judicious use of the mature landscape creates a far more socially cohesive campus centered on a re-designed main quad.
