Driving Regenerative Change

True sustainability is not a checklist, it’s an integrated mindset. By applying systems thinking, we design environments where energy efficiency, occupant well-being, and resilient design strategies support one another. This approach creates lasting value, reduces environmental impact, and ensures built environments are responsive to both people and planet, now and into the future. With these values our team at Practice is a part of the AIA 2030 Commitment.

Practice has also been a proud member of the AIA 2030 Commitment for over 4 years taking on the challenge to produce net zero emission buildings by 2030. This challenge requires us to track improvement data transparently each Commitment for over 4 years, taking on the challenge to produce net-zero year.

Through the research and development of sustainable practice, our team integrates passive and active design strategies, collaborating with external teams, and mentor the use of building analysis software within our firm. We believe to provide effective change, you must first have quantified metrics of the work, then, through careful analysis and scientific practice, high-performance projects can be developed with environmental impact that focuses on human comfort and well-being. With use of building science softwares and our  sustainability guidelines, we have set intervention points to evaluate performance and goal setting to keep projects in line with our mission throughout the design process.

AIA|LA 1.5°C Symposium on Climate Change
At the AIA Los Angeles 1.5° Celsius Symposium on Climate Change, our studio members joined conversations on sustainability, resilience and design innovation.
Celebrating the 2024 Design x Diversity Day
Practice was out in force at the 2024 ACLA Design by Diversity event at East Los Angeles College.

One of the biggest draws to our booth was the Net Zero Hero game which teaches kids how to bring sustainable practices into building design.
Casey Castor Participates in a Workshop at the 2025 Getting to Zero Forum
Our Sustainability Director, Casey Castor, shared insights from our work modernizing Inglewood High School at the Getting to Zero Forum. The project puts these evolving requirements into practice through thoughtful planning, performance-based compliance, and smarter material decisions.
